Bag Materials!!! (Designing Tips!!)
The Most popular material for handbags in general is leather. There are many reasons for this. Leather is very durable and flexible, strong and easy to mold into practically any shape. It is easy to dye into any colour!!! This makes things easy for the bag makers and although the material is expensive to process it does give long lasting quality and thats what we want to achieve!! We would rather make something that is long lasting and good quality to keep our buyers happy!!
After much research I came to found that there are many different types of leather! Who would have thought!
There are also some little-known kinds like buckskin or brained leather, the glossy patent leather, shagreen which comes from stingray skin, vachetta leather for trimmings, slink leather from unborn calves, the tough deerskin, nubuck which has been sanded, belting leather, and nappa leather. There are also some types that have been bonded with synthetic materials like bonded or reconstituted leather made from scrap from tanneries, and bycast leather which has a layer of polyurethane.
Although leather is the most popular choice, there are many other alternatives like cloth and satin, and even velvet! But these materials are much better suited for evening bags, and must be taken good care of. Leather is not the only strong material, Canvas is also very popular due to its toughness!
